What's included in each Plan

  • Why do I need a Warranty?
Once the Manufacturers Warranty expires, usually after 3 years, you're on your own. You may be lucky and your car will never break down - ever. However, it is possible that this unfortunate event could happen down the road. Remember as the KM gets higher and the components get older it's almost inevitable parts will fail. It's not just the parts you need to replace, there are also labour costs too. It can get very expensive. The need for a warranty is to meet these costs for you and keep you motoring.
  • Can a KM+ Warranty be a TAX Deductible Expense?
As a guide, If you use your vehicle for business use and claim expenses for Maintenance & Repair. CRA allows you to claim the payment of the Extended Warranty as a deductible expense. (if you claim a fixed cost per Km, it is not a deductible expense.) Please consult your own CPA/Tax Accountant for confirmation of deductions available to you for your personal financial situation.
  • I purchased a car from a Private Seller do I qualify?
That is Great News - YES you can qualify for a KM+ Warrranty Protection Plan.
  • What if I just bought a car with 3 months Dealer Warranty?
It's OK to keep the basic 3 months warranty. What we can do is start your new higher protection CANCARA Warranty and if you don't make a claim between the start date (day 31) and the expiry of your 3 months basic warranty we will re-start your CANCARA Warranty from the date of expiry of the old one. You have the extra protection if needed and you still have it if you did not claim. That's fair - right?
  • Manufacturer Warranty on my vehicle has recently expired?
Once you have lost the security of a Manufacturers Warranty it is understandable that you don't want to have an unfortunate component failure that costs $$$ to repair when you least expect it. A CANCARA Extended Warranty can give you the protection you need once again, just select the level of coverage you need and email or mail CANCARA a copy of the last Service Invoice for the vehicle when you purchase your Extended Warranty Protection.
  • So what must I do to keep the Warranty valid?
You must have the oil & filters changed at the manufacturer's regular service intervals and we would like you to keep up with the manufacturer's maintenance schedules which will be detailed in the manufacturer's handbook for your vehicle. We allow up to 1000 km or 30 days overlap of the recommended service km/date. If you completely ignore the service schedules and have neglected to invest in any regular maintenance of your vehicle, your warranty claim may be declined if the failed part was due to lack of proper maintenance. Makes sense! Even if the servicing has been missed your Warranty will still cover components not checked during servicing.
  • Is there a limit to the number of claims I can make?
It is not the number of claims that is important, it is the value of the claim, your maximum policy benefit is the current market value of your vehicle, so the number of claims required to reach the value limit will be different for each policyholder based upon the amount of each claim. Usually a deductible is payable for each claim, so the fewer claims you have, the less you contribute. The cost of administering a claim varies very little from low value to high value claims.
  • Do Warranties have an excess?
Yes a deductible of $100 or $125 depending on your level of cover is payable for each claim to cover administration of the claim. You can select the $0 Deductible option when purchasing your Warranty if you prefer.
  • When does the Warranty coverage start?
The coverage arising from this Warranty will come into force on the 31st day following the execution of the Agreement. No claim relating to any event that occurred prior to the Agreement coming into force will be accepted. For example: If you purchased a 12 months Warranty on 1st January 2018, the policy starts on the 1st February 2018 and will be active for 12 months until 31st Jan 2019.
  • What is the MONEY BACK GUARANTEE?
How the Money Back Guarantee works: ADD The Money Back Guarantee to your ORDER before checkout - Cost $499 + tax It's really simple, When you maintain a claim-free warranty and the policy has not been cancelled or transferred to an acquirer of your vehicle the Policy issuer will send directly to you a 100% CREDIT of your warranty purchase price including taxes. To claim your 100% credit you must put your request in writing to CANCARA within 7 days of the expiry of the policy along with a copy of your policy and the current ownership registration for your vehicle*. The credit can be used to purchase another Extended Warranty. *Disclaimer - ONLY available on GOLD & PLATINUM WARRANTY plans. Term 36 months or longer. If you do not order the Money Back Guarantee you do not benefit from it.
  • What about parts that just wear out?
Most of the mechanical components in a car are moving, so inevitabely at some stage in their life they are going to fail due to general 'wear & tear'. Examples of parts that fail due to wear and tear include, engine and transmission bearings, timing chain/timing belt, starter motor, alternator, wheel bearings and water pumps. Please note that the parts covered will depend on the Warranty protection plan the client is on. Refer to your policy document for clarification.
  • Do you limit the labour rate allowed?
The policy provider has agreed maximum labour rates for Franchised and Independent repair facilities which is usually consistent with the market rate for your area. You can select to pay the difference if you want the repair to be completed at a specific dealership that charges above the market rate.
  • What happens if my car breaks down?
